Sacramento County has launched a pilot program that will provide $725 per month for one year to families with young children who are struggling financially.

The Family First initiative is designed to help households cover essential expenses such as food, rent, and utilities.

Unlike other aid programs, this stimulus check in California comes with no spending restrictions and does not depend on immigration status.

This means that undocumented parents or guardians may also apply if they meet the eligibility requirements.

California Stimulus Check: Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the California $725 stimulus check, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Live in one of the following ZIP codes: 95815, 95821, 95823, 95825, 95828, or 95838, which include the areas of Arden-Arcade, Florin, and McLellan Park.
  • Be a caregiver of a child aged 0–5 who identifies as Black, African American, Indigenous, or Native American.
  • Have an income below 200% of the federal poverty level, which equals less than $62,400 per year for a family of four.
  • Not currently receive funds from another guaranteed income program.

Although the program focuses on Black and Indigenous families, many mixed Latino households may still qualify if they meet the economic requirements.

For those ineligible for other state aid programs due to immigration status, this initiative represents a real financial relief opportunity.

Additionally, the direct and unrestricted payments give families the flexibility to prioritize their most urgent needs.

What’s Next for Economic Aid in Sacramento

Sacramento officials announced that acceptance letters will be sent before the end of the year. If the program proves successful, it could be expanded to other California counties.

Residents interested in this economic aid program in Sacramento can apply directly through the official county website and verify if their neighborhood qualifies.
