Actor and producer Ron Simons, winner of four Tony Awards, passed away at the age of 63.

This news was reported on Friday, June 14, by The Hollywood Reporter (THR).

SimonSays Entertainment, the actor’s production company, confirmed that Simons died on Wednesday, June 12.

However, the causes of his death were not disclosed. May he rest in peace.

Ron Simons was behind numerous Broadway productions, according to information from Efe.

Among these productions are ‘Porgy and Bess’, ‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder’, and ‘Jitney’.

Additionally, Ron Simons participated in several highly successful television productions, such as Succession and Daredevil, as well as Law and Order.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, where he was born in 1960, Simons worked as a product manager at Microsoft before becoming an actor.

In a statement, the Harlem Classic Theater expressed:

«Our thoughts are with his family. Ron has left an indisputable legacy on Broadway. We will always remember his generosity and indisputable talent…»

Finally, Rochelle Riley, Director of Arts and Culture for the City of Detroit, dedicated an emotional farewell message to the actor.

Through her social media, she wrote: «Six hours since I heard the news and I am still numb. Ron Simons was simply the best.»

Riley stated that Broadway, the entire nation, and Detroit lost ‘a giant’.
