Arminda Gonzales was shot dead in a case full of questions

Since the man who fired the shots is not yet accused of anything, the detectives investigating cannot publicly disclose his identity.

The agency in Texas investigating Arminda Gonzales’s death is the Schertz Police Department (SPD).

The SPD sought assistance from detectives of the Texas Rangers, a division of the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS).

Schertz, located in Texas, is a small city in the northeast of the San Antonio metropolitan area, and its police department requests help in complex cases.

Police received a report of a shooting

On Friday, May 10th, 2024, at 11:12 PM, the SPD emergency line received reports of gunshots from neighbors.

SPD officers responded to a residence marked with the address 11600 Voges Pass, in Bexar County, in a semi-rural area close to an airbase.

Upon arrival at the scene, patrol officers, suspecting the commission of a crime, found a woman severely wounded by multiple gunshot wounds.

Upon examining the woman, the officers were unable to render assistance, and she was pronounced dead. The victim was identified as Arminda Gonzales.

At the scene, SPD officers detained a man who agreed to cooperate with authorities and share what had allegedly occurred.

The officers took the man to the department’s headquarters, where he stated that he had shot Mrs. Arminda Gonzales in self-defense.

At the time of writing this story, authorities have not disclosed the nature of the threat the man perceived from Arminda Gonzales.

A few hours after the shooting, SPD detectives requested assistance from the Texas Rangers of the TxDPS to aid them in the investigation.

Rita Godina, Arminda Gonzales’s mother, amidst her grief, opened an account on the social network GoFundMe to bury her daughter.

«We are trying to raise funds for my daughter to rest in peace. Anything will be greatly appreciated. Rest in peace, my little one,» details the account Help Lay Mindy to Rest Peacefully.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the official cause of Arminda ‘Mindy’ Gonzales’s death was homicide by gunshot.

This detail adds to the mystery regarding the detained man and his relationship with Arminda Gonzales, which is currently unknown.

The brutal death of Arminda ‘Mindy’ Gonzales in Schertz, Texas, is yet another in the many violent incidents involving firearms.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, as of the year 2024, 5,953 people have already died from gunshot wounds in the United States.

Up until Monday, May 13, 2024, a total of 10,915 individuals were left wounded from gunshot incidents across the country.

The significant mystery that remains for now is understanding the motive behind the man’s decision to shoot young Arminda ‘Mindy’ Gonzales.
