He felt like an outsider

As mentioned above, Ronen Rubinstein was born in Israel but moved to the U.S. with his family at the age of 5.

In an interview, the actor from series like Orange is the New Black and 9-1-1: Lone Star revealed that he felt like an outsider.

This was due to growing up as an immigrant, learning English as his third language, and struggling to adapt to American culture.

After surviving Hurricane Sandy, he became a climate activist, in addition to defending sustainability.

‘I fully identify as bisexual’

In the 2021 interview with Variety magazine, Ronen Rubinstein revealed that he fully identified as bisexual.

«I literally just got goosebumps saying that. It feels so good to talk about it, it feels so good to finally be comfortable with it.»

On the other hand, the actor commented that he was worried about the repercussions his romantic scenes with actor Rafael L. Silva would have.

Ronen played TK Strand, a gay police officer in 9-1-1: Lone Star.

He learned to accept himself

Thanks to this character, Ronen Rubinstein began to accept himself and discovered that he liked both men and women.

«I was definitely more aware of it in high school. I was aware of my feelings and how I started looking at men, but I couldn’t talk to anybody about it,» he said.

Moreover, the actor said he couldn’t talk to anyone about these feelings or his interest in men.

«The fans, especially the Tarlos fans, it’s one of the biggest reasons that I finally felt safe and comfortable to talk about it.»

Jessica Parker Kennedy encouraged him to come out

In the interview with Variety, Ronen Rubinstein said his girlfriend was the one who encouraged him to come out of the closet.

Actress Jessica Parker Kennedy was one of the first people to respectfully bring up the topic.

«She’s like, ‘Is there something we need to talk about?’ And I said, ‘Maybe.’»

The actor acknowledged that it was probably the best conversation he could have had with someone.

Ronen Rubinstein marries in secret

In August 2022 Ronen Rubinstein married actress Jessica Parker Kennedy.

According to People, said «she’s my everything,» and, «I can talk to her about stuff that I can’t talk to anybody else.»

Only 30 guests attended the ceremony, and it was planned with little advance notice.

Ronen couldn’t help but cry with happiness at seeing his bride walking down the aisle.
