A video shared online shows the moment a visit from Border Patrol agents to a Chicago butcher shop escalated into a confrontation after the owner rejected them.

On the façade of Carnicería y Taquería Aguascalientes, several signs make the store’s rule unmistakable: no federal agent may enter without a valid legal warrant.

On the morning of Saturday, November 8, Gregory Bovino, head of Border Patrol in Chicago, entered the shop accompanied by several agents.

Service was denied under the direction of Carlos Macías, owner of the business located on the iconic 26th Street in Little Village.

Macías says Bovino arrived around 9:30 or 10:00 a.m. asking for service. The shop owner refused immediately.

According to Macías, Bovino asked why he was being denied service and argued that the establishment was a “public place.”

Macías responded that it was private property and that Bovino needed to leave because no service would be provided, according to Univision.

Employees also pointed to the visible “NO ICE” signs that prohibit federal agents from entering without a judicial warrant.

Macías recounts that the Border Patrol chief reacted with a mocking smile before leaving the establishment with his escorts.

Security cameras inside the business recorded the encounter.

The videos show Gregory Bovino entering with several agents and being greeted by cashier Eli Gutiérrez, who was the first to deny service.

Michele Macías, daughter of the owners, explains that the employee told them it was private property and they needed to leave.

Despite that, the incident didn’t end inside the store.

The family states that Gregory Bovino and the agents remained in the parking lot of the establishment.

Carlos Macías decided to step outside and speak with them directly.

His daughter Michel recalls her father confronting the Border Patrol chief face-to-face, reiterating that he had to leave because the parking area was also private property.

Tension in the Parking Lot

According to the family, Bovino responded that he would not leave because he believed he was standing in a public space.

He also warned that if Macías came any closer, he would proceed to arrest him.

Tension rose as the agents continued standing in the parking lot.

Macías insisted that both the store and the parking lot were his property.

The confrontation continued for several minutes in a tense atmosphere.

Family members watched from inside the store without intervening as the verbal exchange continued.

Border Patrol Agents Finally Leave

After several minutes of confrontation, the agents eventually left.

The Macías family says the incident reflects their commitment to enforcing the rule posted outside their business.

The owners maintain that the “NO ICE” signs and private property notices are a way to protect both their customers and their business.

The episode was captured on video and described by the family as one of the most intense moments they have experienced at the butcher shop in recent years.
