- Cartel dispute in Mexico leaves dead.
- Roadblocks and attacks in Michoacán.
- Government intensifies investigations into violence.
A dispute between two organized crime cartels triggered a wave of violence across three Mexican states, resulting in two police officers killed, several highway blockades, arson attacks, and assaults on businesses.
Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, Omar García Harfuch, reported on the incidents that took place on Wednesday.
«Yesterday, violent events occurred in 26 municipalities in Michoacán, two in Guanajuato, and one in Jalisco, leading to the burning of several vehicles, three attacks on stores, multiple blockades, and assaults on authorities, where two police officers lost their lives,» García Harfuch stated in an official release.
Although the government did not specify which criminal groups were involved, the region is known to be operated by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and the Nueva Familia Michoacana.

Both organizations were designated as terrorist groups by the United States government in February.
In response to the events, Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum commented: «There were no arrests; it was truly a conflict between two groups, mainly in Michoacán, and investigations are already underway.»
Meanwhile, García Harfuch emphasized that «these attacks are the result of conflicts between two criminal groups fighting over territory.
These events will not go unpunished, and we will report the corresponding arrests.»
States Most Affected by Organized Crime Violence

Amid the violence, the states of Guanajuato, Jalisco, and Michoacán are among the six states with the highest homicide rates nationwide, according to data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP).
The violence fueled by cartel territorial disputes has worsened the security situation in several western Mexican states.
Authorities have stepped up efforts to contain the violence, but the presence of these criminal groups remains a constant threat to the safety of residents in the affected areas.
Despite these efforts, the population continues to live in fear of further clashes that could leave more victims and destruction in their wake.
