A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agent was arrested in Miami-Dade following a violent family altercation.
Authorities reported that Nelson Pérez assaulted his daughter and strangled her boyfriend during an argument related to a car accident.
The incident occurred on Monday morning, when Pérez confronted his daughter after learning about the accident.
According to the police report, the argument escalated, leading Pérez to strike his daughter twice on the left temple and pull her hair.
CBP Agent Family Dispute Escalates to Assault and Strangulation

Officers stated that Pérez was also angry because his daughter was not obeying her parents.
Her boyfriend attempted to intervene, but Pérez attacked him, tackled him to the ground, and sat on him before strangling him.
Family members tried to separate them, but Pérez only stopped when his daughter threatened to call the police.
According to the report, the daughter did not show visible injuries.
However, her boyfriend suffered scratches on his neck, a wound above his right eyebrow, a cut on his lip, and an abrasion on his shoulder.
Nelson Pérez was arrested at the scene and transported to the Miami-Dade Special Victims Bureau.
During questioning, he invoked his right to an attorney.

Jail records indicate that Pérez faces one count of strangulation and two counts of assault.
As of Tuesday, he remained in custody at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a $3,500 bond.
