A man was arrested Monday afternoon after his vehicle struck several pedestrians amid the festivities for the club’s 20th league title.

The incident occurred shortly after 6:00 p.m. local time (5:00 p.m. GMT) on Water Street, one of Liverpool’s main roads, where thousands had gathered to accompany the team parade.

Ambulances and Emergency Services on Scene

The North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) said its personnel were on-site “assessing the situation and working with other emergency responders.”

“Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical care they need as quickly as possible,” NWAS said in a statement.

According to The Guardian, Liverpool was also observing the UK’s Spring Bank Holiday, which coincided with the team’s highly anticipated victory parade.

Players and coaching staff toured the main streets aboard an open-top bus while fans waved flags and sang victory chants.

Investigation Remains Open With No Official Details

The Liverpool parade, already nearing its end, was not canceled. However, organizers chose to suspend several scheduled evening activities out of respect and safety concerns.

The event has once again highlighted the challenges of ensuring security during large-scale public gatherings. In high-density spaces, any disruption can quickly escalate into a major risk.

Merseyside Police has pledged to provide updates as the investigation progresses.

Meanwhile, the city is left to process a day that shifted within minutes from pure joy to profound uncertainty, as reported by EFE and The Guardian.
