Hispanic man accused of raping 13-year-old girl

Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, a 25-year-old from Ecuador, is accused of raping a 13-year-old girl.

He was arrested after residents of Queens, New York, recognized him.

Several people restrained him using what appeared to be a belt and mistreated him until the police arrived.

Christian Geovanny Denies the Accusations

According to ABC, Christian Geovanny waived his Miranda Rights following his arrest.

This refers to the right to remain silent and to have an attorney present.

The Ecuadorian told police he had drug problems and had never done anything like this before.

He also mentioned finding the knife the police said he used to force a 13-year-old girl and her friend into a secluded area of Kissena Park.

Collaboration of the Girl and Her Friend Was Crucial

After the assault, the girls were able to escape from Christian Geovanny and reported the incident at their school.

According to the police, the description provided by the girls, including a tattoo, greatly aided in producing a high-quality composite sketch.

After seeing a video released by the police, Queens residents recognized the suspect.

They organized to detain him around 1 AM and notified the authorities.

As reported by ABC, Christian Geovanny was taken to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment before being placed under police custody.

He faces multiple charges including rape, sexual abuse, theft, threats, unlawful imprisonment, and kidnapping.

Additionally, for endangering the welfare of a child, in this case, a 13-year-old girl, and for possession of a weapon.

The Ecuadorian has no prior arrests in New York, but he was arrested outside the state for illegally entering the U.S. in June 2021.
