According to court records, Arturo Gutiérrez, 36, was found guilty of four counts of criminal sexual conduct, after a lengthy trial that lasted four days in the District Court of the Ramsey County. The defendant was sentenced to 640 months in prison, which is equivalent to 54 years, for which he will regain his freedom in 2072.

Gutiérrez was charged in October 2018 after one of the girls told her grandmother that her “dad” had hurt her. The Hispanic had a romantic relationship with the girl’s mother at that time.

Police arrested Gutierrez after a SWAT team executed a search warrant at a residence in West St. Paul and found him hiding in the attic.

The pervert got into the girl’s bed and sexually abused her, but unfortunately, his girlfriend got up just at that moment to go to the bathroom and when she saw that he was not by her side, she started looking for him.

She was shocked when she found her husband half naked and leaving the place of the house where the girl, then 13, was sleeping.

Immediately a heated argument began between them and, although he tried to give a million excuses and justifications, she did not believe him.

He then began to question the teenager and she only cried and was silent, but did not say anything, so the mother called 911 without hesitation.

In a matter of minutes, the house was filled with police from the city of Marietta.

They all wanted to know what had happened that night in the house and if Anita had been raped or groped by her stepfather, but neither of them said anything. The girl’s response was always the same «I don’t know what happened, I was asleep.»

To get out of the doubt, the authorities decided to take the girl to a medical center, where after examining her thoroughly, they confirmed the worst fear of the family: she had the typical injuries of a sexual abuse.

But that is not all. The doctors also gave the mother and the researchers another bad news: the girl had a venereal disease, that is, one of those that is transmitted exclusively through sex.

Then they proceeded to do tests on Morán and these showed that he had the same disease, for which he was arrested on the spot as a suspect of abuse.

After seeing her attacker in handcuffs and being transferred to the Cobb County Jail, Anita finally decided to break the silence.

The girl exposed her to the authorities and her mother that she had indeed been raped that night, but clarified that it was not the first time her stepfather had done it.

In the trial against this Salvadoran, the prosecution managed to show that the minor had been forced to silence the abuses.

And the fact is that the subject had convinced her that no one was going to believe him and, incidentally, threatened her that he would stop helping his family financially if she gave him away.

“Sexual abuse of children leaves scars forever. These fingerprints continue to affect them even after a long time has passed, ”said Assistant District Attorney Courtney Veal.
