The deaths of Colombian musicians Bayron Sánchez Salazar, known as B King, and Jorge Luis Herrera Lemos, alias DJ Regio Clown, have shocked both Mexico and Colombia.

Both had been reported missing after a tour in Mexico City.

The Mexico City Attorney General’s Office (FGJCDMX) confirmed that their bodies were found in the State of Mexico and opened a homicide investigation.

Colombian Artists Murdered in Mexico, Confirms Prosecutor

The FGJCDMX stated that, following investigative steps, witness statements, and video evidence, it determined that the artists’ last known location was in the State of Mexico.

This led to collaboration with the State Prosecutor’s Office (FGJEM).

“Thanks to this coordination, forensic staff from the FGJEM compared the profiles of the missing persons and found matches with two deceased individuals who were discovered on September 17 in the municipality of Cocotitlán. In light of these facts, the FGJEM is conducting a homicide investigation,” the agency reported.

B King’s body was identified by his relatives at the Regional Subprosecutor’s Office in Tlalnepantla. The Prosecutor’s Office pledged to exhaust all lines of investigation to ensure justice.

Official and Political Reactions

Colombian President Gustavo Petro condemned the crime and linked it to international drug cartels. On his X account, he wrote:

“They murdered our youth in the United States of Mexicans (sic). An international mafia strengthened by the stupid militarized and prohibitionist policy called the ‘war on drugs,’ imposed on humanity and Latin America. More young people murdered by an anti-drug policy that is not truly anti-trafficker.”

Petro had already asked his Mexican counterpart, Claudia Sheinbaum, for assistance in locating the Colombian artists who were murdered in Mexico.

However, in his posts he mistakenly claimed the disappearance occurred in Sonora—something later denied by Mexican authorities, who confirmed that the last trace was in Polanco, Mexico City.

From the United States, there was also a reaction.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau directly responded to Petro:

“It’s embarrassing to see a Head of State behave so rudely, blaming the United States for the disappearance of two of his citizens in Mexico. Sad for the great and beloved people of Colombia that things have come to this.”

What Is Known About Bayron Sánchez Salazar and Jorge Luis Herrera Lemos’ Disappearance

According to the official missing persons reports, both musicians were last seen on September 16 after visiting a gym in the Polanco neighborhood.

The official description noted that Bayron Sánchez Salazar was wearing a black shirt, sweatpants, and white sneakers, and had a cut design on his left eyebrow along with several tattoos.

Jorge Herrera was wearing a T-shirt, sweatpants, and black sneakers, with ear piercings and multiple tattoos.

The news has shaken the urban music community and sparked demands for justice from families, colleagues, and fans.

Investigations continue in Mexico while Colombia closely follows the judicial process surrounding this crime that has left the artistic community in mourning.
