They find a body wrapped in plastic bags and abandoned on a park bench in Jalisco, Mexico. The body would be the former leader of a powerful Mexican cartel. The victim allegedly separated from the criminal gang Nuevo Cartel General de Jalisco (CJNG) in 2017, reported The New York Post.

The Mexican authorities indicated that they believe that the body found in the Jardín Hidalgo park in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco last week is that of Carlos “El Cholo” Enrique Sánchez Martínez, reported Mexico News Daily said.

The Mexican police indicated that the body was found last Thursday in the municipality that is part of the Guadalajara metropolitan area. The body had two posters nailed to its body with knives. One of the papers identified the corpse in Spanish as: «the traitor El Cholo», according to the medium reviewed.

So far the body has not been officially identified, however, the murder occurs after a video posted on the internet showed the former Mexican leader handcuffed in front of armed members of the drug cartel. Jalisco, claiming that he cooperated with the police.

«This material confirms the existence of an orchestrated strategy to destabilize the state by an organized crime group,» said the Attorney General of Jalisco, Gerardo Octavio Solís Gómez. «Everything indicates that it is Carlos Sánchez Martínez, nicknamed ‘El Cholo’,» he added.

According to Mexican News Daily, Sánchez broke away from the Jalisco cartel and formed his own criminal gang of drug traffickers called the Nuevo Plaza Cartel. Since the moment of their separation, both cartels have remained at war for control of the trafficking of drugs such as methamphetamine in Guadalajara and other parts of central Mexico.
