Cristiano Ronaldo has been given a one-match suspension by FIFA following his red card against Ireland in the UEFA qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The suspension was already served in Portugal’s match against Armenia.
Additionally, he received two conditional matches, which would only apply if he commits another offense.
The red card — issued on November 13 — was the first of CR7’s international career, coming in his 226th match for Portugal after an altercation with Dara O’Shea in the 59th minute.
Cristiano Ronaldo cleared to play his sixth World Cup
With the sanction now completed, Cristiano Ronaldo will be eligible to play in the 2026 World Cup, marking what could be his historic sixth appearance in the tournament.

What’s next for CR7?
- Portugal will discover their group opponents on Friday, December 5, during the World Cup draw in Washington, D.C.
- In March, Portugal will face Mexico in a friendly match at Estadio Banorte, which will also serve as the stadium’s reopening event.
