The narcocorrido performer died after being shot in the head on the night of February 10, in a case now under investigation by the Fiscalía General de Justicia de la Ciudad de México.
His death caused shock among fans and colleagues in the genre, where his name had begun gaining recognition.
On social media, musicians and groups expressed their grief over the passing of the singer, who was part of AfroSan y sus Centenarios.

Lyrics Marked by Narcoculture
AfroSan was known for performing narcocorridos referencing criminal groups and drug trafficking figures.
In a post shared earlier this year, the singer wrote: “Nothing but people from La Unión Tepito. Long live all of you,” before performing one of his songs.
On Spotify, the group had accumulated more than 42,000 monthly listeners, with tracks such as “En el Humo Radicamos” and “Trayectoria Arremangada” among the most streamed.
His lyrics included phrases like: “I was already part of their cartel” and “I carry my R-15 well strapped […] I earned respect because I took down several,” reflecting the subgenre’s aesthetic.
A Recent Birthday and Unfinished Plans
Weeks before his death, the singer shared a video celebrating his birthday and thanking his followers for their support.
“I’m going to send shoutouts to all my people. Thank you all so much. Tag the major record labels so they can hear us and bring us in to make a lot of music,” he said on January 23.
In that same message, he added: “Everyone who tags them, I’ll send you a shoutout. Today is my birthday,” showing enthusiasm for his artistic growth.
His killing reignites debate about the violence surrounding certain regional Mexican performers and leaves on hold a career that was just beginning to consolidate — as the AfroSan murder in Tláhuac case continues under investigation.
