Iran is one of the world’s most seismically active countries.
Iran frequently experiences earthquakes due to its location along several major geological fault lines.
Earthquake Damage and Casualties in Iran

The most devastating earthquakes in Iran’s recent history occurred in 1990 and 2003.
In 1990, a 7.7-magnitude earthquake claimed the lives of 37,000 people and injured more than 100,000.
In 2003, a 6.6-magnitude quake leveled the city of Bam, killing 31,000 people.
The last major earthquake happened in November 2017, when a 7.3-magnitude quake struck Kermanshah Province in the northwest of the country.
That quake left a tragic toll of 620 dead and over 12,000 injured.
Although today’s tremor caused no casualties, central Iran remains vulnerable to stronger quakes due to its geological location.
Local authorities continue to monitor the situation and remain on alert for any potential aftershocks.
Seismic activity in Iran is a constant reminder of the need to strengthen infrastructure and emergency response systems.
Conclusion
Prevention and preparedness are crucial to mitigating the devastating effects of natural disasters.
Despite ongoing efforts to improve earthquake resilience, tragedy remains a looming threat in Iran, a country where the ground has once again shaken with force.
