The brutal murder of Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales, better known as El Pirata de Culiacán, continues to be a topic of discussion.
Almost six years after this heinous crime, it is widely believed that this young man died after insulting El Mencho in a video.
The famous YouTuber, who rose to fame by flaunting a life of excess, was killed on December 18, 2017.
However, to this day, there is still doubt about whether Ricardo Ruiz Velazco, known as El Doble R, ordered this murder.
Who is El Doble R?
In addition to being known as El Doble R, Ricardo Ruiz Velazco is also nicknamed El Tripa.
He is said to be a lieutenant of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel (CJNG). In addition to El Pirata de Culiacán, he is linked to other notable victims.
According to infobae, these victims include Venezuelan model Daisy Ferrer and Secretary of Tourism José de Jesús Gallegos.
At the time, it was claimed that the hitmen who came to the bar where Juan Luis was killed had been following orders from Ricardo Ruiz Velazco.

But El Doble R is not the only one linked to the death of El Pirata de Culiacán. Emilio Alexandro Pinedo is also said to be involved.
Known as «El Sobrino,» he essentially incriminated himself when photos of murdered people, including Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales, were found on his phone.
Subsequently, authorities pursued El Doble R to ultimately apprehend El Mencho.
In December 2014, Ricardo Ruiz Velazco was arrested. Despite having nine warrants for his arrest, authorities released him.
Did he give the order to execute the YouTuber?
According to Prensa Libre, authorities stated that it was El Doble R who ordered the execution of El Pirata de Culiacán.
By doing this, Ricardo Ruiz Velazco wanted to assert his authority and make a couple of things clear.
One of them was that no one could make fun of El Mencho, or the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel.
Anyone daring to do so would face the consequences, just as Juan Luis Lagunas Rosales did.
El Doble R’s other role
Furthermore, in addition to being a lieutenant of the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel, El Doble R had other roles few people are aware of.
Ricardo Ruiz Velazco is credited with a strategy of creating propaganda videos targeting other criminal groups.
For this purpose, he uses masked individuals equipped with tactical-military gear.
Their purpose is to convey messages or deny CJNG’s responsibility for some criminal activities — a challenging task.

El Doble R and El Pirata de Culiacán, have something in common that few would imagine, each with their ‘distinctive’ style.
According to Publimetro, the lieutenant apparently regularly uploads photos and videos to his various social media accounts.
His ‘obsession’ is such that his associates within the organization reportedly call him «the YouTuber.»
Finally, the Mexican Ministry of National Defense has accused him of producing military-style propaganda videos that he disseminates on his social media accounts.
