Upon entering the funeral home, police discovered 31 bodies, «some of which were in advanced stages of decomposition.» There were also the remains of 16 cremated people, according to Major Isaac Parker in a statement released by the Louisville Courier-Journal.
What were all those bodies doing there? Apparently, one of the funeral home’s air conditioning units stopped working and that’s why the smell began permeate the neighborhood, reaching the noses of the locals who began to report the stench.

Is it a crime?

The case is out of the ordinary and the authorities will have to identify the bodies, while looking for an explanation for the accumulation of corpses. The goal is mainly to determine if any crime was committed, but the police don’t suspect malicious motives, the source said.
For now, and because they have not established any crime, the authorities have not placed anyone under arrest. However, the Jeffersonville Police, the Clark County Sheriff’s Department and the Indiana State Police have opened an investigation into the funeral home and are looking into the case.
