The aircraft was carrying 242 people including passengers and crew. So far, no survivors have been confirmed.

The aircraft lost control during its initial climb, having only reached an altitude of 190 meters.

Videos on social media show the plane with its landing gear still extended, descending slowly before crashing into a building and exploding into a massive fireball.

Flightradar24 confirmed that the crashed aircraft was a Dreamliner with registration VT-ANB, delivered to Air India in January 2014.

The airline stated it has already launched an internal investigation and is cooperating with local authorities.

NO SURVIVORS FOUND (Update)

According to Indian media, the flight’s captain, Sumeet Sabharwal, and first officer, Clive Kundar, managed to issue an emergency signal minutes before impact.

However, there was no further response from the cockpit. Search and rescue operations are underway, led by local authorities and emergency services from the state of Gujarat.

Minister Bhupendra Patel ordered all necessary resources to be deployed to handle the emergency.

Hours later, authorities confirmed they found no survivors after the Air India plane crash.

Context and Background

This accident comes at a critical time for Air India, which is undergoing a restructuring and expansion process under the Tata Group conglomerate.

The airline has placed massive aircraft orders to expand its coverage in response to growing domestic demand.

The incident adds to other air-related accidents in 2025, in what has been a particularly difficult year for the global aviation industry.
