Southwind High School in Memphis is on high alert after receiving threats of a possible shooting.
At least four high schools in the area have been placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, according to authorities.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an individual contacted Southwind High School with the threat of an armed attack.
Craigmont, Ridgeway, and Germantown High Schools have also been affected by the situation, implementing similar security measures.

The Memphis Police Department indicated that many of the threats are coming from chatbots and sources overseas.
These bots are sending similar images and messages to schools across the country, prompting a coordinated response from authorities.
In an email to parents, the Memphis-Shelby school district stated: «We are aware of a threat towards several of our schools, and as a precautionary measure, we ask that you do not go to your child’s school, as law enforcement is actively investigating. We will provide updates as necessary.»

Germantown police reported that they are collaborating with the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Homeland Security to assess the legitimacy of the threats.
In a statement, they said: «We have a large number of personnel at the school and will remain on site as a precautionary measure. In addition to Germantown High School, we have deployed additional officers to other Germantown schools for the remainder of the day.»
The situation is still developing, and authorities are expected to provide more information as investigations progress.
