An armed man traveling from Indiana was shot by Secret Service agents near the White House.

This occurred early Sunday morning, authorities reported.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting, which occurred around midnight, just one block from the White House, according to a Secret Service statement.

At the time of the incident, President Donald Trump was in Florida.

Authorities had received information from local police regarding a «suicidal individual» who was traveling from Indiana.

After tracking his vehicle, officers located the suspect near the White House.

Around midnight, the suspect was found «parked» a block from the White House, according to Secret Service Communications Chief Anthony Guglielmi in a post on X.

«When agents approached, the individual brandished a firearm,» the Secret Service stated.

A confrontation ensued, during which Secret Service agents fired their weapons.

The suspect was taken to a hospital, but his condition remains unknown.

The Metropolitan Police Department will conduct the official investigation.

This is because the incident involved law enforcement officers.

A request for comment from the police department on Sunday has not yet been answered.

Authorities are expected to release more information as the investigation progresses.
