A Missouri woman walked into a police station on Tuesday and confessed to killing her two young children.

According to reports, Ashley Parmeley, 36, arrived at the Festus Police Department at 10:30 am, disheveled and wearing wet clothes.

In her statement, Parmeley admitted to shooting her 9-year-old daughter and drowning her 2-year-old son, CBS News reported.

Ashley Parmeley confessed to murdering her children

«It’s a great tragedy for our community,» said Sheriff Dave Marshak at a press conference.

Parmeley’s 9-year-old daughter was found with a gunshot wound in the back seat of Parmeley’s car outside the police station.

Officers tried to save the girl’s life but were unsuccessful.

Marshak stated that the girl was injured in St. Francois County, near Highway E.

Parmeley’s 2-year-old son’s body was found near Timber Creek Resort

Ashley Parmeley left the body of her 2-year-old son in the water near Timber Creek Resort on Highway 67 — he had drowned.

According to Sheriff Dave Marshak, officers jumped into the water trying to save the boy, but they also failed.

She had a third child, who was found safe.

Parmeley has been charged with second-degree murder for the death of her 2-year-old son.
