- Bank of America full closure
- Branches without operations
- Service delays expected
Bank of America has confirmed that all of its branches across the United States will close for 24 hours during a scheduled nationwide shutdown on February 16.
The closure coincides with the observance of Presidents’ Day, one of the federal holidays that traditionally interrupts banking operations.
The measure will affect the bank’s approximately 3,600 branches nationwide, raising concerns among customers who require in-person services.
This closure comes less than a month after the previous one, which took place on January 19 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
What the closure means and who it affects

Bank of America reminded customers that during federal holidays, no teller services, in-branch deposits, or transactions requiring on-site staff are processed. This means any banking activity that must be done in person should be completed before or after February 16.
The institution warned that some transactions may experience temporary delays due to the closure, including transfers or deposits that may not post until the next business day.

Customers who rely on immediate balance updates should factor this delay into their financial planning.
The interruption is also part of the annual holiday schedule, as national banks remain closed on 11 federal holidays each year. Other major institutions, such as JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo, will follow the same schedule on Presidents’ Day.
Additional services affected during the holiday
The bank closure will not be the only service disruption on that date, as several other key institutions will also modify their operations.
The United States Postal Service (USPS) will fully suspend mail delivery and close post offices for the day.
FedEx will operate on a reduced or modified schedule depending on the region, which could delay urgent shipments or scheduled deliveries. UPS will also adjust its services, limiting availability for pickups and drop-offs.
These changes require consumers and businesses alike to plan ahead to avoid disruptions in payments, deliveries, or logistics. Companies recommend checking updated schedules before completing any transactions.
What’s next for Bank of America customers
The next federal holiday affecting banks will be Memorial Day on May 25, when branches will again remain closed as part of the mandatory federal holiday calendar.
Although the February 16 closure will be brief, it represents a significant interruption for customers who depend on face-to-face banking services. Customers are therefore encouraged to schedule transactions in advance and use digital alternatives to minimize inconvenience.
Bank of America noted that its online banking platforms and ATMs will remain available for basic transactions, according to The US Sun.
Even so, customers should plan ahead to avoid delays on a day when much of the U.S. banking system will temporarily shut down.
