The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, October 10th, just before 10:00 p.m. Carlos Christian Pérez Cervantes was refueling his white Malibu at a gas station located across from Plaza Sendero.

The exact location was at the junction of Prolongación 10 Street and the International Highway, to the south of Ciudad Obregón in Sonora.

While he was at the pump, another vehicle abruptly pulled up beside him. Without any warning or words exchanged, the individuals inside the newly arrived vehicle unleashed a barrage of gunfire.

The abrupt and indiscriminate shooting spread panic due to the deafening sounds of the gunshots.
