Selvin Pérez, 24, Samuel Godínez, 38, and Ovidio Méndez, 24, were allegedly responsible for the death of Freddy Méndez, an 11-year-old boy who was kidnapped and murdered, even after the family paid the ransom. According to local media reports, the incident occurred in the western town of Colotenango.

In the reports released by the authorities, the suspects kidnapped Freddy on August 12 and asked the family for a payment of $19,500. The boy’s family paid the money for his return. The kidnappers killed him anyway.

Before taking the boy’s life, the three kidnappers took photographs of him and one of the men decided to pose next to him with a gun. That was intended to show Méndez’s family that he was still alive. Despite the ransom payment, he was never released and the photos they sent remained as evidence of their misdeeds.

One of the hypotheses offered by the police indicates that the kidnappers killed Méndez because the child’s father is currently working in the United States. And it was revealed that the father sent money to the family for his expenses and the construction of his new house, El Imparcial reported. Filed Under: Kidnappers Burned Alive
