Among the constitutional reforms proposed by AMLO is the militarization of the National Guard and a modification of the electoral system.

Also, they elected judges and members of the Supreme Court by popular vote.

Claudia Sheinbaum maintained that she conceives «a plural, diverse and democratic Mexico» in which «dissent is part of democracy.»

«And although the majority of the people supported our project, our duty is and will always be to look after each and every one of the Mexicans without distinction,» she stated.

We will never have an authoritarian government

She also promised to «guarantee freedoms of expression, of the press, of assembly, of concentration and mobilization.»

«We are democrats and by conviction we would never create an authoritarian or repressive government…»

«We will also respect political, social, cultural and religious diversity, gender and sexual diversity,» said Claudia Sheinbaum.

Finally, she pledged to have an «honest» government, without influence, corruption, or impunity.

“I want to thank Xóchitl Gálvez Ruiz, candidate for Fuerza y Corazón por México for the call I received a few minutes ago recognizing the victory.”

«I also recognize Jorge Álvarez Máynez with his so-called Movimiento Ciudadano candidate for his participation in these free and democratic elections,» said Claudia Sheinbaum.

The president of the INE, Guadalupe Taddei, reported that Sheinbaum obtained between 58.3% and 60.7% of the votes in the elections, according to the organization’s quick count.

According to the Programa de Resultados Electorales Preliminares (PREP), Sheinbaum maintains an advantage in the election for president of Mexico.

This Sunday, Mexico celebrated the largest election in its history with more than 98 million people called to renew more than 20,000 positions.
