- Congress to publish Epstein files
- Justice to redact victims’ names
- MAGA base demands transparency
According to the EFE news agency, the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform announced on Tuesday that it will make public some files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case.
The decision comes after a subpoena was presented to the Department of Justice, which finally agreed to share with Congress the documents from its investigation into the financier accused of the sexual exploitation of minors.
A spokesperson for the committee confirmed to U.S. media outlets such as CNN that lawmakers will begin receiving materials this Friday, although the publication of the information will not be immediate.
Before releasing the files, the names of the victims and sensitive details must be redacted to protect their identity and safety.

The Department of Justice clarified that it will take time to deliver all the records requested by Congress.
The main reason is the need to ensure that confidential data related to the victims and the ongoing investigation are properly omitted.
According to the institution, the priority is to protect the people who suffered abuse while at the same time offering transparency regarding Epstein.
The New York pedophile committed suicide in a federal prison in 2019 while facing charges of sex trafficking of minors, which left many unanswered questions about his connections and the network of power around him.

Political pressure to access the documents has increased in recent months, as it is believed that the Epstein files could shed new light on the magnate’s activities and his ties to influential figures.
Congress seeks to examine not only the security failures that allowed Epstein to continue his crimes for years but also the network of relationships surrounding him.
The case has generated controversy over the alleged existence of lists with names of businessmen, politicians, and public figures who may have been associated with the millionaire.
Although the authenticity of such lists has not been confirmed, the expectation surrounding the files has grown, especially among the most critical sectors of the current political system.
Reaction after the Justice Department’s initial refusal

In July, the Department of Justice had stated that it would not release further information about Epstein, sparking strong backlash among supporters of President Donald Trump.
The president’s base of support, identified as MAGA (“Make America Great Again”), maintains theories pointing to the involvement of powerful figures in politics and business within Epstein’s circles.
Trump himself has at times fueled these speculations, which has increased public pressure to demand greater transparency regarding the investigation.
The committee’s announcement thus marks a shift from the federal authorities’ initial position.
A process that will take weeks
Although it is confirmed that some files will be made public, the final publication will take several weeks or even months.
The committee will have to carefully review each document to ensure that information about victims of sexual exploitation is not exposed.
It is expected that part of the materials will be classified as confidential, which could limit the public’s full access to the details of the case.
However, lawmakers from both parties have insisted that the release of these files is essential to clarify what happened and restore trust in the institutions.
Expectation over the names in the Epstein files
Public interest centers on whether the documents include the names of Epstein’s clients or collaborators linked to his exploitation network.
So far, only some court records have hinted at the financier’s connections with powerful figures in the United States and abroad.
Confirmation of these ties could have a major political and social impact, particularly if it involves current officials or key figures in the global economy.
For this reason, the partial release of the Epstein case files is seen as a key step toward transparency, although it will likely leave many questions unanswered.
The United States Congress is preparing to handle one of the most sensitive revelations in recent years, under the watchful eye of public opinion and an electorate divided by the theories surrounding the Epstein case.
