The White House is working on an executive order that could eliminate thousands of jobs at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Employees at these institutions will have the option to accept compensation before the layoffs occur.

However, the exact number of positions affected has not yet been determined.

The Department of Health and Human Services, which employs more than 80,000 people, would be most affected by these staff reductions.

This department includes several essential agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health, the FDA, and the CDC.

The implementation of these cuts could negatively impact the ability of these entities to perform their work, affecting areas such as drug approval and disease research.

Other important areas such as monitoring avian influenza and cancer would also be compromised.

The government agencies involved are organizing a list of essential employees who should be retained.

This would help identify workers whose function is crucial to the operations of the CDC, the FDA and other institutions.

Employees will have to decide whether to accept the government’s severance offer.

So far, more than 40,000 federal employees have chosen to resign under the compensation agreement.

The White House denied that there is an executive order regarding the cuts to public health.

However, layoffs are expected to occur next week.

A federal judge temporarily suspended the deadline to accept the «deferred resignation.»

This creates further uncertainty about the implementation of the cutback policy.

  • The cut of thousands of jobs in the health sector concerns the population.
  • It is not yet known how it will affect the quality of healthcare.
  • These cuts could hinder access to essential services.
  • The community awaits more information on how these changes will be implemented.
