Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy plan to cut thousands of federal regulations as part of a sweeping reform.

The two are heading the newly established «Department of Government Efficiency» (DOGE), created by President-elect Donald Trump.

In an opinion piece published in The Wall Street Journal, they outlined their plans to overhaul government operations.

One key measure is the elimination of telework, which could lead to widespread resignations in the public sector.

“If federal employees don’t want to show up, taxpayers shouldn’t have to pay them,” they argued.

More than a million workers could be impacted, according to the Office of Management and Budget.

The report states that 46% of federal civilian employees have some degree of telework.

Of these, 228,000 hold fully remote positions, making them the most vulnerable to these changes.

Musk and Ramaswamy also propose eliminating regulations they believe exceed federal agency authority.

This, they claim, would justify proportional layoffs and limit the creation of new rules.

“Fewer regulations require fewer employees to implement them,” they wrote in the article.

Other measures include massive layoffs and relocating agencies outside Washington, D.C.

Federal employees are already mobilizing, hiring lawyers, and preparing resistance campaigns.

They hope Congress will intervene to halt the widespread cuts, according to Reuters sources.
