Twice a year people in the U.S. wonder: Do I need to set my clocks forward or back?

The answer is clear: when daylight saving time begins, clocks should be set forward one hour. This adjustment is officially made at 2:00 a.m. on the second Sunday in March.

Most modern electronic devices, such as smartphones and computers, make the change automatically.

This makes the transition easier for many. However, analog clocks and some older devices will require manual updating.

DST in the United States is regulated by the Uniform Time Act of 1966, according to Gestión.

This law sets the guidelines for changing the clocks.

Under this law, most states in the U.S. change their clocks, although some have chosen not to go through the time change.

Arizona, for example, opted out in 1968.

There is an exception in Arizona, the Navajo Nation does observe DST.

In addition to Arizona, there are other territories and states in the U.S. that have chosen not to implement DST.

These include American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

These locations have opted to maintain standard time throughout the year.

Daylight saving time ends on the first Sunday in November when clocks are set back one hour to return to standard time.

This change marks the end of the DST, meaning it gets dark earlier.

Although the time change is routine, it can affect people’s sleep patterns and daily routines for a few days.

However, the primary goal of daylight saving time is to maximize daylight and reduce energy consumption in the evenings.
