Prosecutors have not revealed the motive behind the attack, but his history has sparked outrage.

An Irreparable Loss
The victim, Naket Jadix Trinidad Maldonado, was the mother of two young girls and had no close relatives in New Jersey.
Her aunt started a GoFundMe campaign to support the children, describing the murder as a «senseless and malicious act.»
«Naky was taken from us in a horrible act by someone she trusted. Now her daughters face an uncertain future without either of their parents,» her aunt wrote on the campaign.
«We are facing many challenges during this difficult time, and today I turn to you for support to cope with the costs associated with her departure and the care of our granddaughters.»
