According to People en Español, a 34-year-old woman was shot and killed while making a DoorDash delivery outside an elementary school in Georgia.

Eboni Anderson was working for the delivery platform when she was attacked outside Palmetto Elementary School on Tuesday, February 10.

The information was first reported by 11 Alive.

The incident prompted an immediate response from authorities and an emergency lockdown at the school, drawing widespread concern over the DoorDash driver killed outside the Georgia school.

Attack Outside Elementary School

According to FOX 5 Atlanta, officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 11:00 a.m.

Upon arrival, they found Eboni Anderson’s body near the entrance of the school.

A staff member activated an emergency alert button to notify the school community, according to WSB-TV.

Although no students or staff were injured, more than 550 children were transported to Bear Creek Middle School for the remainder of the day as a precaution.

DoorDash released a statement following the incident.

“This is a tragic situation, and our thoughts are with the Dasher’s loved ones. Our team is investigating and cooperating with authorities,” a company spokesperson told PEOPLE.

Arrest After High-Speed Chase

The suspect was identified as Christopher Loris Ates, 39.

WJCL reported that he was captured after a high-speed chase that ended in a crash on Highway 96 near the Houston–Twiggs county line.

Records reviewed by PEOPLE indicate that Ates had previously been held at the Houston County Jail on multiple charges.

These include reckless driving, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, and second-degree child cruelty.

He also faces additional criminal issues in Fulton County.

Authorities are finalizing murder charges and seeking further warrants as the investigation into the DoorDash driver killed continues.

Mother of Three Killed: Family Reaction

Eboni Anderson was the mother of two 8-year-old twins and an 18-month-old baby.

Fulton County Schools confirmed that her children are part of the district, although they did not attend Palmetto Elementary.

Tariq Robinson, the victim’s stepfather, described her as “an excellent mother who deeply loved her children.”

In a GoFundMe page created to cover funeral expenses, she was remembered as a “beautiful, kind, and gentle soul.”

“Anyone who knew her knew the warmth and love she carried in her heart. We are heartbroken beyond words,” the post states.

PEOPLE has contacted the Warner Robins Police Department and school authorities for additional comments as the case of the shot DoorDash driver remains under investigation.
