What was Chapo Guzmán accused of?

The trial against El Chapo Guzmán began on November 5, 2018, in the US.
The charges against the native of Badiraguato, Sinaloa, Mexico, were for drug distribution, as well as money laundering and weapons possession.
As mentioned earlier, he received a life sentence for drug trafficking offenses, plus 30 years and another 20 for money laundering.
In 2022, he filed a motion to vacate his sentence, along with requesting a new trial.
He asks to have contact with his family

Recently, it was revealed that El Chapo Guzmán made an unexpected plea from prison to a court in New York.
According to information from Telemundo, the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel requested to be allowed to see his wife, Emma Coronel, and his daughters.
Currently, he is in the maximum-security prison in Florence, Colorado, in the US.
One of his restrictions is precisely not being able to see his family.
Will they honor his request?

On another note, El Chapo Guzmán also requested the reinstatement of the biweekly phone calls he used to have with his daughters.
In a letter, the Mexican drug trafficker asserted that this right was interrupted last May.
«Surely she was upset (referring to the prosecutor) because in the pro se motion, I exposed the inefficiency of the lawyers,» he expressed.
He also stated that these lawyers did not address the anomalies of the prosecutors throughout the entire process.
«It is unprecedented discrimination against me»

In addition to the plea El Chapo Guzmán made from prison, the kingpin had more to convey in the letter, the contents of which have been disclosed.
«In response, they have decided to punish me by not allowing me to speak with my daughters. Up to this day, they have not informed me whether they will no longer allow me calls…».
Before concluding, the Mexican drug trafficker asserted that this is an unprecedented act of discrimination against him.
It’s worth noting that Joaquín Guzmán spends 23 hours a day confined in a cell. He is only allowed to take an hour of sunlight daily.
He is found guilty on ten counts

Finally, a jury in a federal court in Brooklyn found Joaquín «El Chapo» Guzmán guilty on ten charges.
According to information from WHEE Radio, the kingpin is responsible for murders and smuggling massive amounts of narcotics into the US for decades.
«He was the man behind the curtain; he pulled all the strings,» expressed Ray Donovan, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
The defense claimed that Guzmán Loera, currently 67 years old, was a victim of an ‘elaborate conspiracy’.
