- Elon Musk signals reconciliation
- Trump refuses to speak with Musk
- Accusations escalate between both
Tensions between former President Donald Trump and tech magnate Elon Musk have reached new heights, but a recent gesture suggests Musk may be willing to dial down the conflict.
After a flurry of statements that ignited social media on Thursday, Musk publicly endorsed a conciliatory message from a mutual ally calling for peace.
“I support @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk making peace for the good of our great country. We are much stronger together than apart,” investor Bill Ackman posted on X.
“You’re not wrong,” Musk replied briefly, implying that despite the tension, he is open to reconciliation.
Trump responds with rejection and sarcasm

The exchange follows a day marked by mutual accusations, political threats, and personal attacks that highlighted the breakdown of what was once a strong alliance.
The relationship between Trump and Musk, once close, publicly fractured after the entrepreneur criticized the Republican’s fiscal policy.

The turning point came when Trump, in comments to outlets like ABC News and CNN, dismissed the idea of a possible conversation with the Tesla and SpaceX founder.
“You mean the guy who’s lost his mind?” Trump quipped sarcastically when asked about a rumored call between them scheduled for Friday.
Trump and Musk Broken relationship: from allies to public rivals
The president was blunt: “I’m not particularly interested in speaking with him anytime soon.”
The remarks underscore a clear distancing by the Republican leader, who said he feels disappointed with Musk.
According to Trump insiders cited by ABC, the president is even considering getting rid of the Tesla he bought as a show of support for the company during a White House event.
“The car is still parked at the executive residence,” a staffer told the press.
I support @realDonaldTrump and @elonmusk and they should make peace for the benefit of our great country.

Musk accuses, Trump strikes back hard
At the same time, the South African-born magnate accused Trump of having won the 2024 election thanks to his tech support, escalating their verbal feud to unprecedented levels.
Musk also hinted that Trump could be named in files related to the Jeffrey Epstein case—an explosive claim that further inflamed tensions.
Trump responded on his Truth Social network, declaring that Musk had gone “CRAZY” and that he wasn’t concerned about his sudden shift in loyalty.
“I don’t care if Elon turns on me, but he should’ve done it months ago. This is one of the best bills ever introduced in Congress. It’s historic,” the Republican wrote.
A rupture with potential political consequences
The statements refer to Trump’s tax proposal, which has been heavily criticized by the Tesla CEO.
According to Musk, the proposal will increase the national debt by more than $2 trillion, contradicting his previous role as head of the Office of Government Efficiency.
The billionaire resigned from that role last week, disagreeing with what he called the federal government’s “uncontrolled wastefulness.”
Although the dispute between Trump and Musk has escalated quickly, Musk’s response to Ackman’s peace message opens a narrow window for dialogue.
For now, Trump insists he does not prioritize speaking with his former ally—neither in the short nor medium term.
The incident highlights the complexity of political and business power in the United States, where alliances can unravel at lightning speed.
Both Trump and Musk—highly influential in their respective fields—are now at the center of a dispute with both economic and political implications.
Uncertainty remains over whether a true reconciliation will occur, or if this rupture will mark a definitive turning point in their relationship, as reported by EFE and Forbes.
