The multi-instrumentalist resisted acknowledging her sexual orientation.

Flor Amargo forced herself to have relationships with men because she feared her budding fanbase would reject her.

In an attempt to escape her inner conflict, the Mexican musician sought solace in alcohol for several months.

However, on November 30, 2020, she put an end to her torment and, during a Facebook Live session, confessed her love for a woman.

«I came out of the closet, without fear, I confess that I deeply love another woman,» the courageous singer wrote on her Instagram account.

«I want to encourage those who are still in the closet to dare to experience love freely,» Flor Amargo added in the post.

With tears in her eyes, the recipient of the 2010 Crystal Screen Award admitted on camera that her greatest fear was not being accepted.

She expressed gratitude to her girlfriend at the time, Lolita, for teaching her to break free and accept herself as she truly was.

«Coming out of the closet is very important to me. Many of you know that it doesn’t matter how you love or who you love.»

«… or if others reject, criticize, or fail to accept you,» Flor Amargo stated at the time.

The composer’s message began trending and more than 33,000 of her followers expressed their support and respect.

First and foremost, they applauded her courage in being true to herself and sharing something so personal with her audience.

Now, Flor Amargo hopes that others do not have to endure what she went through.
