The arrest warrant for 43-year-old Francisco Valencia Ávila outlines the extensive list of charges the Hispanic gentleman is facing.
A cell at the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution in Delaware now houses the Hispanic man, who acted violently in a moment of rage.

Francisco Valencia started shooting in a restaurant

On Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 1:38 p.m., the emergency hotline received a call alerting of a shooting at a Mexican restaurant.
Multiple patrols from the Wilmington Police Department (WPD) rushed to the Restaurant and Bar El Molcajete, located at 300 North Union Street.
At the scene, officers found 35-year-old Lupe Bedolla Castillo critically wounded from gunshot wounds and requested assistance for the Hispanic man.
Paramedics arrived at the Restaurant and Bar El Molcajete to provide aid to the young man and swiftly transport him to a nearby hospital.
Lupe Bedolla Castillo died in the emergency room

However, Lupe Bedolla Castillo’s condition was extremely critical due to gunshot wounds, and he passed away while in the emergency room.
Detectives from the Wilmington Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division arrived at the Restaurant and Bar El Molcajete to investigate the murder.
Based on witnesses and other forensic evidence, the officers discovered that the shooter targeted the other young man in a sudden fit of rage.
Within hours of the brutal shooting at Restaurant and Bar El Molcajete, detectives already knew the name of the fugitive, Francisco Valencia Ávila.
The detainee claims that they disrespected him and he got angry

Agents from the WPD’s Criminal Investigations Division issued an arrest warrant against Francisco Valencia Ávila.
After several hours of searching, the agents were able to locate the Hispanic fugitive and arrested him without resistance, seizing the weapon.
In a somewhat surprising turn of events, the detained Francisco Valencia Ávila confessed that he fired because he felt «disrespected» at the restaurant.
What is not detailed is how Francisco Valencia Ávila perceived the disrespect to the extent that he drew a firearm in a public place.
«He was one of the most intelligent and attentive people»

Miguel Ortiz, the brother-in-law of the slain young man, opened the Lupe Bedolla Castillo account on GoFundMe to request financial support for the funeral.
«To me, Lupe (Bedolla Castillo) was one of the most intelligent and caring individuals I had the privilege to know,» wrote Miguel Ortiz in his message.
According to the plea, the deceased «would go out of his way to help anyone. Lupe loved his family, friends, and above all, his daughter,» he detailed.
Now, Miguel Ortiz appeals to the solidarity of the community to be able to lay his brother-in-law to rest. «If you can find it in your heart to donate, thank you from me and his family.»
Firearm deaths continue to rise

The brutal shooting attack perpetrated by Francisco Valencia Ávila in Wilmington, Delaware, is yet another violent incident involving firearms.
According to the Gun Violence Archive, as of the year 2024, 5,033 people have already been fatally shot in the United States.
Additionally, as of Monday, April 22, 2024, a total of 8,974 people have been severely injured by gunfire in violent incidents across the country.
Wilmington, Delaware, is a small and peaceful city with just over 80,000 residents, seven out of ten of whom are Hispanic.
