- What happened to Salvador Ramos’ body after the massacre at Robb Elementary in Texas?
- He was in the Uvalde morgue for almost a month.
- Why funeral homes refused to take his body.
After the massacre at the Robb elementary school in Texas, what happened to the body of the shooter Salvador Ramos is now being revealed. He remained in the Uvalde morgue for nearly a month waiting to be cremated, according to the Daily Mail.
Information indicates that none of the local funeral homes would take the body of the 18-year-old who killed 19 children and two teachers after breaking into the school on May 24 with a high caliber weapon. He he shot the children while police waited outside the elementary school.
WHY ARE FUNERAL HOMES REFUSING HIS BODY?

The morgue kept the young man’s body while his relatives argued about it and the funeral homes refused to accept it for several reasons. First, they were very busy with the funerals of the victims and also they did not want to cause more trauma to the families and they didn’t want to attract attention.
Uvalde only has two funeral homes: Hillcrest Memorial and Rushing-Estes-Knowles. They took great care of the families of the 21 victims, which is one of the reasons why the shooter’s body was refused. Ramos was finally cremated in San Antonio — 83 miles from Uvalde — almost 30 days after the massacre.
NOBODY WANTED HIS BODY

While the family disagreed on what to do with the young man’s remains, Uvalde County Justice of the Peace Eulalio ‘Lalo’ Diaz Jr., who also serves as de facto medical examiner, said Bexar County coroners carried out the autopsy on Ramos’ body on May 27, just three days after the police shot him.
“Once they got to him, the city funeral homes said, ‘We don’t want to deal with him,’” he said. After several days of trying to find a place for him, they finally managed to find a place in Lockhart, 165 miles away. “I had to put him away for three weeks,” Diaz said. “While the funerals for the victims were taking place, I was still thinking about what to do with him. It was a stressful time.» Filed Under: Corpse Shooter Uvalde
WHAT DID THE FUNERAL HOMES SAY?

Taylor Michelle Massey, general director of funerals in Rushing-Estes-Knowles, told The Houston Chronicle that: “All of our staff grew up in Uvalde County and attended school in Uvalde County and believe that they all deserve a dignified and respectful funeral service.”
“However, in the weeks following the May 24 shootings, we were caring for 17 families in what was probably the most difficult time of their lives. Given the circumstances, we did not feel it was appropriate or in the best interest of the families we were caring for to take custody of the remains of the individual who caused their pain.» Filed Under: Corpse Shooter Uvalde
WHAT HAPPENED TO THE BODY?

The report on the young man’s death notes that, after several weeks in the morgue, Ramos’ remains were finally cremated at the Crown Cremation Center on the western edge of downtown San Antonio, 85 miles from Uvalde and that it was Castle Ridge in Crystal City, 40 miles south of Uvalde, which handled Ramos’ funeral arrangements, Diaz said, according to the Daily Mail.
The person interviewed told the Chronicle that it could take up to a year for the Bexar County Medical Examiner to finalize the autopsy reports on Ramos and his 21 victims, so more details will have to wait until the compendium about the massacre that left the United States in mourning is completed.
