Authorities in Tijuana, Baja California, discovered a severed human head inside a cooler at the intersection of Monferrato Street and Carretera Libre in the La Gloria neighborhood.

Upon arrival, authorities confirmed: «A severed head was found inside a green plastic container along with a white banner.»

Grupo Firme, a band originating from Tijuana, is scheduled to perform on March 1 at the Teodoro Mariscal Stadiumduring the Queen’s Coronation Ceremony at 6:30 PM.

The Mazatlán Carnival is set to take place from February 27 to March 4, featuring renowned artists such as Plácido Domingo, Jorge Medina & Josi Cuen, Alejandro Sanz, La Adictiva, and Grupo Firme.

Days before, a joint operation led by Mexico’s Navy, Army, and National Guard in Mazatlán’s Malecon led to the discovery of 12 suspected improvised explosive devices in the Tellería neighborhood.

These incidents coincide with an internal conflict within the Sinaloa Cartel, specifically between Los Chapitos and Los Mayos, escalating security concerns in the region.
