The accident happened when Claudia accidentally placed a bottle of multipurpose cleaner too close to the stove.

When she turned on the wrong burner, the container overheated and exploded violently, spraying flammable chemicals throughout the kitchen.

In seconds, flames spread across her face, neck, chest, and arms, causing severe burns and deep tissue damage.

Her son, who was working just a few blocks away, arrived before paramedics and found her unconscious on the floor, covered in flames and smoke.

He rushed her to a nearby clinic, where doctors ordered her immediate transfer to the Jackson Memorial Hospital Trauma Center, the only local facility specialized in burn treatment.

She remained hospitalized for weeks, undergoing multiple surgeries and synthetic skin grafts.
