The Dallas shooting marks the third attack this year in Texas against ICE or Border Patrol facilities.
On July 4, an armed group attacked the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth. A local police officer was shot in the neck but survived.
More than a dozen people were charged in that attack.
Days later, in McAllen, a 27-year-old man armed with a rifle and tactical gear was shot dead after opening fire at a Border Patrol facility.
Two agents and an employee were injured.
These incidents highlight a rise in violence against immigration agents and federal facilities in the state.

Police are maintaining a security operation along I-35E and confirmed they are investigating a second possible shooting reported at a nearby building at 1950 N Stemmons Blvd.
