An armed attack at the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) office in Dallas, Texas, left several people injured and at least two dead on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 6:40 a.m. at the building located at 8101 North Stemmons Freeway, alongside I-35E, triggering a massive security deployment.

Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem confirmed the deaths and noted that the suspect took his own life after shooting himself.

Amid the initial confusion, there were reports of the possibility of a sniper or even multiple attackers in the area.

Immediate Response

Shortly after the attack on the ICE office, SWAT teams and dozens of Dallas police officers were deployed to the area.

Access points were blocked, and nearby buildings were searched amid fears that additional armed individuals might be present.

Although the identities and medical conditions of the victims have not yet been released, federal authorities reported “multiple injuries and fatalities.”

Acting ICE Director Todd Lyons told CNN:

“We have three people injured at this moment. We don’t know their condition. They’ve been transported to the hospital.” He added that preliminary information pointed to the possibility of a sniper.

What Authorities Are Saying About the ICE Dallas Shooting

Secretary Noem emphasized in a statement:

“We do not yet know the motive, but we know that our ICE agents are facing unprecedented violence against them. This must stop.”

She also asked for prayers for the victims and their families as the investigation progresses.

On X, Noem wrote: “Details are still emerging, but we can confirm multiple injuries and fatalities. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.”

Context

The Dallas shooting marks the third attack this year in Texas against ICE or Border Patrol facilities.

On July 4, an armed group attacked the Prairieland Detention Center near Fort Worth. A local police officer was shot in the neck but survived.

More than a dozen people were charged in that attack.

Days later, in McAllen, a 27-year-old man armed with a rifle and tactical gear was shot dead after opening fire at a Border Patrol facility.

Two agents and an employee were injured.

These incidents highlight a rise in violence against immigration agents and federal facilities in the state.

What’s Next

Police are maintaining a security operation along I-35E and confirmed they are investigating a second possible shooting reported at a nearby building at 1950 N Stemmons Blvd.
