Jonathan, a young Hispanic man who has lived in the United States since childhood and was a beneficiary of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) for years, was detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in November after attending an immigration appointment in Waco.
His wife, Alyssa, whom he married in 2024, is now struggling to support the family while facing an unexpected and heartbreaking separation.
“We thought everything would be fine”
Alyssa says they always trusted the legal process. Jonathan attended all his appointments, worked, and did everything by the book. But that day, without prior notice, he was arrested.
“Everything happened so fast. Every day is harder… I’m doing everything I can, but the weight of all this has become overwhelming,” Alyssa wrote on the fundraising page.

Through GoFundMe, the young wife is requesting financial assistance to cover legal costs, visitation expenses, and daily living costs following her husband’s detention.
“Asking for help is not easy for me, but I can’t do this alone anymore,” she admitted.
This case highlights the growing concern surrounding ICE detention after immigration appointment, even for individuals who have followed legal procedures for years.
