According to Independent, President Donald Trump reacted to the latest fatal shooting by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents in Minneapolis with a direct attack on Democratic leaders in the state.

The response came less than two hours after a 37-year-old man, a US citizen and lawful gun owner, died after being shot by federal agents.

Trump posted his message on Truth Social on Saturday morning, amid protests and rising tension in the Twin Cities.

The post included an image of the firearm the victim was carrying at the time of the incident.

Rather than focusing on the circumstances of the shooting, the president directed his message at Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Trump’s Message and Accusations

In his post, Trump described the weapon as “the shooter’s gun,” claiming it was loaded and accompanied by two additional magazines.

He publicly questioned why local police did not protect federal agents during the operation.

He also suggested that local authorities prevented law enforcement agencies from doing their jobs.

Trump claimed that ICE had to “protect itself” due to a lack of local support.

In the same message, he made financial corruption allegations against Minnesota Democratic leaders.

Without providing evidence, he claimed that Ilhan Omar had millions of dollars in her personal bank account.

He also questioned the whereabouts of “tens of billions of dollars” that he alleged were stolen from the state.

The president repeated criticisms he has made for years against Omar and again suggested that she return to her country of origin.

Trump linked the ICE shooting in Minneapolis to what he described as “massive monetary fraud” and Democratic immigration policies.

He claimed that criminals entered the state due to open-border policies.

He demanded that the allegedly stolen money be returned immediately.

In later posts, he accused the mayor and the governor of inciting insurrection through their rhetoric.

He called for those responsible to be imprisoned and described the situation as a cover-up.

He closed his message by calling for ICE to be allowed to “do its job” and claimed that 12,000 undocumented immigrants have been arrested and deported from Minnesota.

Responses from Ilhan Omar and Local Authorities

Congresswoman Ilhan Omar responded to the shooting by calling it “an execution by immigration authorities.”

She said she felt heartbroken, horrified, and shaken by the death of another community member.

She stated that it is shameful for federal agents to attack residents instead of protecting them.

Omar accused the Trump administration of trying to subdue the population rather than ensure public safety.

Meanwhile, Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed the death of the 37-year-old man.

He declined to reveal the victim’s identity and said that available information about the incident was limited.

He called for calm from both the public and federal forces operating in the city.

O’Hara emphasized the need for federal agencies to act with discipline, humanity, and integrity.

He acknowledged widespread outrage and many unanswered questions but insisted on maintaining peace.

Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin explained that agents were carrying out an immigration operation.

She stated that the shots were fired defensively after an armed man approached them.

According to the federal account, the man violently resisted when agents attempted to disarm him.

O’Hara confirmed that police believe the man was a lawful gun owner with a permit to carry.

The shooting occurred amid daily protests in the Twin Cities.

These demonstrations began after the death of 37-year-old Renee Good on January 7.

Good was killed when an ICE agent fired at her vehicle.

Saturday’s shooting took place just over a mile from where Good was shot.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the case as tensions persist in Minneapolis after the ICE shooting.
