The Mexican journalist highlighted that the actress began her artistic career at the end of the 1940s with El diablo no es tan diablo. She also starred in Muchachas de Uniforme (1951), Rostros olvidados (1952), La visita que no tocó el timbre (1954), Escuela de vagabundos (1955), among others.

But one of her most outstanding appearances on the small screen was when she played Doña María Espotaverderona Torquemada, widow of Lascurain and mother of La Chimoltrufia on the comedy show Chespirito.

The actress was also known for various roles in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema, in films such as Esperada (1951) and Escuela de Vagabundos (1955). The Televisa Espectaculos Twitter account, as well as other outlets, also confirmed the news, reported the Reforma agency.

Born in Mexico City on September 5, 1931, Anabel appeared in just over 40 movies and soap operas. The comedian began her career in the seventh art in 1949, in the film El Diablo no es tan Diablo, by Julián Soler, starring Sara García and Julián Soler.

She also participated in several television projects, such as Cárcel de Mujeres and María Soledad. However, it was in the eighties in the comedy program Chespirito that she played Doña María Espotaverderona Torquemada, mother of La Chimoltrufia, who was played by Florinda Meza.

Anabel Gutiérrez said in an interview for 24xSegundo, which was shared on YouTube by MUNDOVIDEO, that one of her co-stars made her cry and get angry. Anabel Gutiérrez was invited on the program to talk about her experiences on Los caquitos de Chespirito and during the interview, she said that all her co-stars were wonderful with her. However, she said “except…”, to which the 24xSegundo host asked her: except who, Doña Anabel?

Smiling, the actress said: «You know who… I won’t say names.» And although she tried not to disclose the identity of the individual who upset her on more than one occasion, late in the interview, Anabel Gutiérrez revealed that this person was Florinda Meza, wife of Roberto Gómez Bolaños, known as Chespirito. Chimoltrufia’s mother told the interviewers that Florinda Meza did not have an easy personality: «I’m not saying she’s a bad person, no, but she had a very difficult personality.»

It turns out that despite the fact that they seemed to have good chemistry on screen and both made thousands of viewers laugh with their funny characters, the reality is that Florinda Meza questioned the performance of her castmate. Anabel Gutiérrez recounted that one day, Florinda Meza told her that she was going to take her to her dressing room, and when asked why, Chespirito’s wife told her: «I’m going to teach you how to be an actress.» She then added: «Well, you are an actress… from the movies, but not from television.»
