The music world is once again in mourning following the death of Ike Turner Jr, son of the legendary Tina and Ike Turner, who passed away at age 67 due to complications from a stroke.
The music producer — known for his work at Bolic Sound Studios and for following in his family’s musical footsteps — died just one day after celebrating his birthday.
According to TMZ, the news was confirmed by his cousin Jacqueline Bullock, Tina Turner’s niece, who shared that Ike Jr had long struggled with heart and kidney problems.
“‘Junior’ was more than a cousin to me; he was a brother,” Bullock said in a statement, remembering that they grew up together and that his musical talent was evident from a very young age.
Ike Turner Jr’s Life Was Marked by Music and Family Conflict

Ike Turner Jr was born in 1958, the son of Ike Turner and Lorraine Taylor, but was adopted by Tina Turner when she married his father in 1962.
“Tina raised me from the time I was two. She’s the only mother I’ve ever known,” he said in a 2018 interview with Daily Mail, highlighting the deep bond they shared for much of his life.

According to EFE, Ike Jr showed interest in music early on, especially in drums, though his mother and aunt often asked him to disassemble the instrument after practicing — “which led him to switch to the keyboard,” Bullock recalled.
His musical journey began young: at just 13, his father pulled him out of school to join him on tour and work in the family business — a decision that would shape his life forever.
The Legacy of Ike Turner Jr
During his youth, Ike Jr joined his father’s technical team and later managed the iconic Bolic Sound Studios, collaborating with numerous blues and soul artists.
His most acclaimed work came in 2006 when he produced Risin’ With The Blues by Ike Turner, which won the Grammy for Best Traditional Blues Album.
Despite his success, Ike Jr’s relationship with his parents remained complicated. In the 2018 interview, he admitted he had not spoken to Tina Turner in over a decade due to ongoing family rifts.
The divorce between Tina and Ike Turner in 1978 deeply fractured the family, and though Ike Jr tried to remain neutral, the emotional tensions endured for years.
Health Problems and a Turbulent Life
In his final years, Ike Turner Jr faced multiple health struggles and personal issues.
His cousin explained that the musician had suffered a stroke the previous month and that his physical condition had been declining for some time.
In May 2023, he was arrested in Texas during a traffic incident in which police discovered crack cocaine and methamphetamine. He was charged with drug possession and evidence tampering.
That arrest came just 18 days before the death of his mother, Tina Turner, at age 83 — closing a painful chapter for the Turner family.
