According to her testimony, “they were kidnapping people, without answering any questions at all.”

The Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights (ICIRR) condemned the ICE raid.
In a statement, the group warned that the action represents an escalation of militarization in Chicago’s Black neighborhoods.
“This is part of a prolonged attack on Chicago communities by Donald Trump and other MAGA leaders,” they declared.
Other community organizations, such as Southside Together and the United African Organization, agreed, stating that “the government has its sights on all our neighborhoods.”
Testimonies of Abuse During the ICE Raid
Pertissue Fisher, a U.S. citizen, said she was questioned about her immigration status despite being born in the country.
She reported being held for several hours in a van while her identity was verified, according to EFE.
She also claimed children were taken out of the building without shoes or pants.
“They treated us like we were nothing,” she said indignantly. Another resident, Darrell Ballard, added that the community felt under siege.
Lack of Official Clarity
So far, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has not provided details about the raid.
The FBI in Chicago confirmed that federal agents participated in a “specific immigration control operation.”
The lack of official information has left South Shore residents in uncertainty.
Neighbors are waiting for answers about the reasons behind the raid and the fate of those detained.
