On May 7, India carried out air and artillery strikes in Pakistan and Pakistani-controlled Kashmir, escalating tensions between the two nuclear-armed nations.
The bombings, which hit at least three locations along the disputed border, resulted in at least three deaths and provoked a strong response from Pakistan, which has vowed to retaliate.
India’s Armed Forces launched missiles and bombed what they described as «terrorist infrastructure.»
According to the Indian government, the strikes targeted facilities used to plan and execute terrorist attacks against India.

This offensive came shortly after a violent Islamist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir that killed 26 Hindu tourists on April 22 — the deadliest attack of its kind in nearly two decades.
The exchange of fire, which included heavy shelling and gunfire along the border, produced terrifying images of explosions and columns of smoke rising in the night skies over Pakistan.

Eyewitnesses and officials reported loud explosions and aircraft flying over the area.
Indian TV channels broadcast footage of destruction in Pakistani territory, although the authenticity of the images could not be independently verified.
Retaliation Expected

Pakistan stated it was preparing a response to India’s attacks but did not provide specific details on planned actions.
In a statement, the Pakistani government confirmed that India had launched missiles at three specific targets, though the Indian government did not disclose the exact nature of the strikes.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said Islamabad was on high alert.
U.S. President Donald Trump commented on the strikes, saying he had just been briefed and expressed hope that the conflict would de-escalate quickly.
The international community is closely monitoring developments, as both India and Pakistan are nuclear powers with a long history of confrontations in the Kashmir region.
India, in its official statement, emphasized that its strikes were “targeted” and not intended to escalate the conflict.
The government asserted that no Pakistani military facilities had been hit and described its actions as “measured” given the severity of the recent attack.
Nevertheless, tensions remain high, and the situation could trigger further violence in the coming days, raising fears of a new war in the region.
