  • Republican Party holds its National Convention.
  • Republicans gather in Milwaukee.
  • They formally nominate Trump as their candidate.

The Republican Party formalized this Monday, during its National Convention in Milwaukee, the nomination of former United States President Donald Trump as its candidate for next November’s elections.

The announcement comes just two days after he survived an assassination attempt at a rally.

Trump was ‘crowned’ by party delegates to be the Republican candidate in the November 5 elections.

In the elections, Trump will probably fight against the current president, Democrat Joe Biden.

The nearly 2,400 delegates representing the different states and territories of the country delivered their votes en bloc for Trump.

The former president finally obtained 2,387 votes.

When Eric Trump, son of the former president, announced the delivery of Florida votes for his father, the number necessary to formalize the nomination was reached.

That’s when a cheer broke out to the tune of ‘Celebration’ by Kool & the Gang and Pat Boone.

Republicans nominated their vice presidential candidate, Ohio Senator JD Vance.

Vance’s name was also revealed yesterday by Trump on the Truth social network.

The Republican National Convention kicked off Monday in Milwaukee with Trump’s nomination mathematically assured.

He needed the votes of 1,215 delegates to have the nomination and in the primary process, he received 2,268.

In addition, his primary rival Nikki Haley, former US ambassador to the UN, freed her 97 delegates so they could vote for the former president.

The unity of the party around the figure of Trump has become even closer.

This since Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally in Pennsylvania last Saturday.

Trump was wounded in the ear by a 20-year-old man who tried to end his life.
