An Indiana House of Representatives candidate was arrested on the eve of the elections for violating a protective order.
The Republican delegate for House District 26, Jim Schenke, was booked into the Tippecanoe County jail on a preliminary charge of privacy invasion, according to JC Online.
He is accused of commenting on a Facebook post of a person who has a protective order against him, as reported by Purdue Explorer.
Police received a call about the incident at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, and Schenke, aged 57, was arrested at his home in Wabash Township the following day.
Scandals and Protective Orders Surround Jim Schenke

The West Lafayette representative candidate currently has two protective orders against him issued by a local attorney and his staff.
Jim Schenke also filed a protective order against a person living in his neighborhood.
He was booked into jail at 6:10 a.m. on Monday but is no longer listed on the inmate roster.
This incident is the latest scandal affecting the embattled politician, after being accused of crashing his campaign RV into a light pole while uninsured.
However, the charge was dropped on October 22.
He still faces another civil charge from the Tippecanoe County Election Board for allegedly failing to include proper political disclaimers in his campaign ads.

Schenke is competing to unseat Democrat Chris Campbell. If successful, he will become the first Republican member of the House for the district since 2018.

Jim Schenke Defends Himself on Social Media and Denies Accusations

Jim Schenke turned to Facebook to deny the accusations, stating that he was the victim in this situation.
“For anyone who cares about honesty, I have been accused of violating a protective order,” said Schenke.
“The truth is that I have a protective order against the sociopath who has been harassing and threatening me for months.”
He compared the person in question to Michael Keaton’s psychotic and con artist character in the 1990 film Pacific Heights.
Schenke described the person as “a drunk and angry transgender pagan activist who irrationally convinced himself that I wanted to kill his son, imagining himself as some sort of avenger licensed to harass and threaten those he hates.”
Deputy Chief of Tippecanoe County Police, Terry Ruley, stated there was probable cause to arrest Jim Schenke for violating the protective order.
