The brutal murder shocked Aurora, Colorado in 2022.
Nearly two years after the tragedy, the relatives of María Anita Serrano, Jesús Serrano, Ken Luque and Rodolfo Pérez are beginning to get some justice.
Castorena had a restraining order against him when he decided to enter his ex-girlfriend’s house without authorization. He hid in the house, waiting to ambush her.
Castorena’s ex noticed his keys in her bedroom and called 911.
What happened?

She was still talking to the 911 operator when the gunshots were heard, prompting an immediate response.
When the officers arrived at the scene they found four lifeless bodies, including that of his ex-girlfriend’s twin sister.
Her brother, another relative, and the man who rented a trailer in the family’s backyard were also killed.
«In the blink of an eye, Mr. Castorena destroyed many lives,» said Assistant District Attorney Lauren Raible about the shooting.

After the shooting, Joseph Castorena fled to Mexico.
Colorado authorities offered up to $15,000 for information about his whereabouts.
In December 2023, in a joint effort between Mexico and the United States, he was located at a distant relative’s house in Aguascalientes.
