Journalist Mario Guevara arrived in El Salvador this Friday after being deported by the United States, a country where he had lived for years. At the airport, he was received by family members, colleagues, and cameras broadcasting his return live.

Mario Guevara, who was detained on June 14 in Chamblee, Georgia, expressed his pain at leaving his family in the U.S.:

“I’m with a broken heart because I’m leaving half of my family there… They treated me like a criminal just for doing my journalistic work.”
