Violence has once again struck the regional Mexican music scene. Julio César Beltrán, a member of Grupo Arraigado, was shot and killed on the afternoon of February 25, 2026, in Culiacán while traveling in his pickup truck.
The 30-year-old musician was intercepted by armed individuals who fired multiple shots at him. Authorities confirmed that the case is under investigation.
The Attack on Malecón Viejo

According to official information, the attack occurred around 4:20 p.m. on Malecón Viejo, along Boulevard Niños Héroes, in the Sinaloa capital.
Armed suspects intercepted the singer’s vehicle and opened fire. After the shooting, those responsible fled the scene.
Municipal police officers secured the area, while members of the National Guard reinforced the perimeter. Paramedics from the Red Cross arrived at the site but confirmed that Beltrán showed no vital signs.
His body was transferred to the Medical Examiner’s Office for the corresponding autopsy.
